A Triumphant Return to Asbury Park's Shores

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band's unforgettable headlining performance at the 2024 Sea.Hear.Now festival is scheduled for an exclusive release on Record Store Day, April 18th. This special edition will be available as a comprehensive 5LP/3CD set, allowing fans to relive the magic of this monumental concert.

The Boss Reflects on a Legendary Night

For Springsteen, this concert represented a deeply personal and nostalgic return to his origins. Departing from his customary setlist, he delighted the 35,000-strong crowd with seldom-played gems such as "Blinded By the Light," "Thundercrack," "Does This Bus Stop at 82nd Street?," and "4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy). These tracks harken back to his early career, when he was performing in the then-dilapidated clubs of Asbury Park. Reflecting on the event in 2025, Springsteen remarked to Rolling Stone that it ranked among the top five, possibly even top three, shows of his career. He emphasized the profound significance of witnessing the town's revival firsthand, transforming from a "ghost town" to a vibrant destination, and performing on its beach on a beautiful September evening.

Record Store Day's Diverse Offerings

Beyond Springsteen's live album, Record Store Day will feature an array of exciting releases. Among them are Neil Young & the Chrome Hearts' "The Live Album," documenting their 2024 global tour; Olivia Dean's "BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge"; "doPE," a new collaborative LP from The Doors' John Densmore and Public Enemy's Chuck D; Fall Out Boy's "So Much For (2our) Dust: Live at Madison Square Garden"; and Brandi Carlile’s "Live at Easy Street Records Vol. II." These offerings represent just a fraction of the extensive list of releases planned for the event.

Anticipation for New Music and Future Performances

Springsteen also has plans to release a new solo album this year, which he describes as having a "political" tone. However, it remains uncertain whether its themes will be as overtly topical as his previous work, such as "Streets of Minneapolis," a song inspired by the confrontations between ICE and protesters in Minnesota. The possibility of a supporting tour for the new album is also unclear. Last year, Springsteen indicated to Rolling Stone that fans should not expect another extensive 130-date tour similar to his last. He expressed a desire to reconnect with his audience and enjoy performing with the band more frequently but with fewer tour dates in the future.
